RESEARCH |

Jonmichael Chavez-Rivas won First
Place in the Mid-Southeast Chapter of Association of Computing Machinery. He
also finished 3rd overall in the area of Math and Computer Science. |

Caroline Ford finished
9th and John Bone finished 14th during this international competition that
involved over 5000 students from all across the world. |
||
|
|
|
|
||
This year's competition
featured the most difficult problem to date. The student teams were asked to
evaluate and prioritize the locations across the United States for the
construction of a new high-speed rail system. The
student teams were asked to put together an entry that featured good,
well-organized writing as well as a good, structured mathematical model. The
team of Jonmichael Chavez-Rivas, Jordan Taylor, Amy
Hill, and Caroline Ford advanced to the final round and were honorable
mention from over 3500 entries. |

TMTA MATH CONTEST |

At the TMTA Math Contest
Keith Curl finished 3rd in Algebra I, John Bone finished 3rd in Calculus,
Jonathan Johnson finished 1st overall and won $1000. The Pre-Calculus
finished 2nd overall and the Calculus team finished 3rd overall. Jordan
Taylor and Kyle McKinney would also finish in the top ten! |
